Every step we take requires an equal and opposite force.
This is movement foundations, so whether you're climbing Everest, walking along doing your shopping, carrying your child or running in the Olympics, it applies to all.
Including strong, stable ankles and knees, being able to resist lateral pelvic tilt and sway will maximise hip drive and efficiency in each alternating leg. Otherwise, every time you take a step, in stead of pushing the ground away and propelling you forward, you'll end up just pushing your hip up. However, if you're pelvis is stable and resists being moved, no energy is wasted. The higher, faster and longer you leap, bound, run or walk, the more important this becomes. Add in factors such as fatigue, excess body weight or age, it can make a big difference.
